Letter From Mindy
Dear Art Quilt Group,
What a great last meeting! These notes
serve to explain what was discussed and decided for continuing study by the
group. The group will change the name from Mindy's group to "Study
Group." There is one date left for someone who wants to volunteer to
facilitate. You can buddy up when facilitating or sharing. Lori will bring some
format ideas to help you plan the date you facilitate. You can carry a theme
through the year if you wish.
Everyone wants to continue! We have all
grown from this experience.
The meeting dates next year will CHANGE
from the 3rd Monday to the 4th Monday of the month - with one exception in May
which will be the 3rd Monday. The dates are listed below.
We will take turns being a facilitator/presenter
each month. See the list is below. The idea is to pick an artist from the book
(see below) and choose techniques or styles related. The facilitator will send
an email out to the group. The email will be sent at least 1 week ahead so that
everyone can prepare and research the topic, and the facilitator will send
their synopsis of the meeting activities planned. On the meeting date, we
discuss the artist and techniques/style or topic of the facilitator's choosing.
Bring samples of work, or save them for the followup at the end of the year.
Each meeting will have time to show and tell or share anything we have been
discussing. It was also mentioned that we should bring these works to the
general meetings to share and encourage participation.
The book we will be using is Masters Art
Quilts: Major works by various artists.
Martha Sielman, author and curator, Lark Books ISBN: 978-1-60059-107-5.
This is available at Joann Fabrics and Amazon. It has lots of different artists
and different quilt styles.

Meetings will continue to be $1.00 a
meeting. We will track the money next year in case you forget if you have paid
ahead.
I
thank each and everyone of you for your contribution!!! I value your
friendship, criticism of my work and your willingness to help me grow
personally and creatively. I will be sending a "list" of people,
email addresses and other information prior to our first meeting. It was also
suggested that it might be good to meet in August to wrap up this current year
and have a cook-out fun night to get together. Let me know what you think about
this.
